Reporting to the Head of Data Analytics, the Senior Data Engineer – assists with complex pharmacy related-data projects and analytics needs. Assists with the implementation and design of the claims qualification engine and pharmacy analytic dashboards. Help manage data relationships with vendors. Helps manage and support pharmacy data warehouse.

Primary Responsibilities: 

  • Assist in creating pharmacy data warehouse for data mining. Establishes proper data formatting for efficient data analysis. Maintains and updates data warehouse as appropriate. Cleans and aggregates data from internal and external sources. (essential)
  • Assist with creating reports and dashboards that track multidimensional performance against division or department goals. Ability to displaying key results in an intelligent manner, including the use of control charts, failure rates, trend graphs etc. (essential)
  • Assist with managing one or more complex data projects. Utilizes hospital systems and database applications to update and analyze data. Prepares and distributes various reports to key stakeholders. Meets with departmental leadership to review reports or requests for data. (essential)
  • Assists with designing and developing reporting and analysis tools. Interprets data and refines analysis. Prepares and presents comprehensive reports. Develops forms, tables and other data tools in the applications that capture, report and consolidate data. Provides application data collection, analytics and reporting expertise. Completes analytics in a timely and efficient manner. (essential)
  • Applies knowledge of standardization and best practices as internal data warehouse evolves. Develops documentation as needed for data warehouse content. (essential)
  • Prepares monthly and quarterly, pharmacy operations, quality, drug utilization, clinical, and financial pharmacy dashboards and report cards. (essential)
  • Managing several projects and resources concurrently, understanding key milestones, dependencies and prioritization. (essential)
  • Translating business and analytic needs into data requirements, utilizing data platforms, like SQL and PowerBI. (essential)

Required Qualifications:

  • 1-3 years related work experience required.
  • Health care and/or IS experience.
  • 340B and SQL experience
  • Retail and Specialty pharmacy experience.
  • 1 -2 years of multiple application maintenance with relational databases. Understanding of SQL, SAS, or Access with the ability to write queries preferred
  • Advanced technical computer skills as required for technical support specific to functional area and related systems.

Educational Requirement: 

  • GED or High School Diploma, some college preferred

Required Experience: 

  • 3-5 years related work experience required.
  • Retail and Specialty pharmacy experience.
  • 2 -4 years of multiple application maintenance with relational databases. Understanding of SQL, SAS, or Access with the ability to write queries preferred
  • Advanced technical computer skills as required for technical support specific to functional area and related systems.

Physical Requirements:  

  • Sedentary work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally in carrying, lifting, pushing, and pulling objects. Sitting most of the time, with walking and standing required only occasionally. This job requires constant sitting, frequent Power Grasping using both hands, Fine Manipulation using both hands, Keyboard use. There may be occasional walking.
